On May 9, HR Committee members had the opportunity to hear experts from Ernst & Young, Jovan Petrovic and Verica Bogdanovic, speak on various aspects of working relations with foreigners, focusing on tax issues.
The AmCham Finance Committee sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance and Economy suggesting proposals which would exclude financial transactions from the scope of the Law.
AmCham’s Finance and Tax Committee prepared joint letter for the Ministry of Finance and Economy stating the negative effects of the Ministry’s opinion from 2009, interpreting Article 40 of the Corporate Income Tax (CIT) Law, related to the tax treatment of premium payments under the option contract for protection against changes of interest rates.

On April 12, AmCham hosted a Business Today Seminar by Dejan Krnjajic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, who presented planned amendments to the Food Safety Law which should be completed by June and adopted in the autumn.
On March 27, AmCham was invited by the Tax Administration and Tanjug as an institutional partner in organizing a Roundtable on improving the work of the Tax Administration. Besides AmCham members, the roundtable was attended by members of the Employers Association and the Association of SMEs as well as distinguished experts and professors.
On March 29, Ernst & Young welcomed HR Committee members to the presentation of a report on HR in crisis, part of their comprehensive study “Planning for Growth”.

AmCham welcomes the Draft Law on Compensations and points out that opportunity for reviewing levels of all charges and their clear setting in the Law should not be missed.After the Law on Compensation is adopted, finalization of parafiscal charges should be focused to the careful revision of the Construction Land Use Charge, as well as the Land Development Charge, with exploring alternative sources of funds to local level.

On October 12, AmCham and FIC jointly organized a public discussion on the Draft Law on Amendments to the CIT Law, presented by the members of the amendments working group.
Since improvement of Public Procurement Law has been among our top priorities for the new government, AmCham responded to a call for public discussion on Proposal Law, in Parliament since February 2012 , and, along with NALED, sent joint suggestions for improving the legal text.
AmCham was invited by the Ministry of Foreign and Internal Trade, Telecommunications and Information Society to provide suggestions for amendments of the Law on Trade and the Law on Electronic Trade.
On August 31, an AmCham Health Care Committee (HCC) delegation met with Ms.Slavica Đukić Dejanović, Minister of Health, to discuss joint cooperation aimed at enhancement and development of the Serbian health care sector.
