On September 21, around 30 HR Committee members gathered at the AmCham offices to attend a Talent Acquisition and Retention Workshop, conducted by visiting lecturer Mr. Robert Bencze, HR Consulting Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers Kft.

The workshop evolved around the results of the research project “The journey to 2020”, which explored how people challenges will develop by 2020. It resulted in three scenarios for changing business models, the challenges of people management and the changing role of HR.

According to the first scenario (the Blue World - large companies akin to small states which have a prominent role in society), talent management will have a strong focus on performance at all levels, while top talents should have personal agents.

Broad definitions of talent, with a focus on competencies describe companies in the second group (the Green World, where an environmental agenda forces fundamental changes to business strategy).

Finally, talent management for the group of companies in the third scenario (the Orange World, where specialization leads to the rise of collaborative networks) will be minimal, necessary for key players in the central ‘core’ only, but liaison with external agents will be crucial.

The participants discussed all three models with the presenters and shared their experiences on the topic.
