§To bridge the gap of the Serbian educational system thus connecting business sector with academia;
§To create employment and talent pool by endowing students with the opportunity to gain practical knowledge, acquire modern working skills necessary for today’s business environment and get internships and job placements in AmCham member companies;
§To boost leadership potentials in young mangers by providing platform for expanding their professional knowledge, developing their mentoring skills and growing up their networks.
The regular part, or the learning curve (January to July) provides an opportunity for all participants to attend lectures and participate in discussions on key business topics with top/experienced managers from AmCham’s membership, to improve their soft skills by attending workshops run by professional trainers and coaches, to hear a motivational & inspiring stories from at least one successful person from outside business, to gain insight into the media world, to network at AmCham official events, to meet business first hand by visiting an AmCham member company, to take part in extracurricular activities – such as a team building exercise outside Belgrade, and to learn more about best U.S. business practices and values at an event with the U.S. Embassy. Participants receive points for attendance, assignments and projects.
The ten pairs who get the highest scores progress into the semifinals (July to September), where they are given a case study to work on over summer. They then present their results at the semifinals event. In addition, students get experience in AmCham member companies, while managers have an opportunity to attend career development sessions with a special consultant.
The three pairs who perform best in semi-finals move on to the finals (October to January following year), where, mentored by AmCham Board members, they develop special projects provided by the CEOs/GMs of the companies which have delegated managers. Each pair thus works on a real company-specific project. The pair that completes the assignment most successfully is pronounced the AmChamps 2016 winner at the special event celebrating the end of the program.
Each generation has a total of 40 participants – 20 students & 20 young managers from AmCham member companies. Students are final year of undergraduate studies or enrolled in master studies at the University of Belgrade and have up to 25 years. AmCham members are young and mid-managers of up to 35 years.
At a special speed dating event at the beginning of the program, students and young managers are matched up with one another in pairs based on brief speed dating, with the managers acting as mentors to the students. Throughout the program participants work on assignments and projects, either in their pairs or as part of larger teams, developing together their mentoring relationships.
