Five Years of AmCham in Serbia

Premier business association in the country, representing over 160 local and international companies, which have cumulatively invested over $5 billion, and employ over 55,000 people in Serbia and Montenegro

BELGRADE - On the occasion of its fifth year anniversary and launching of new corporate identity of the organization, American Chamber of Commerce organized a special business luncheon with top general management of its member companies, hosting U.S. Ambassador Michael C. Polt as an honorary guest speaker. Over 150 leaders of AmCham membership attended yesterday's event in newly branded space on the top floor of MPC Ušće Business Center.

American Chamber of Commerce was founded in October 2001 through the joint efforts of the United States Embassy and 23 founding AmCham members. Since then, the AmCham has built strong network of leading American, international and local companies and opened series of dialogues with key government stakeholders to improve investors' aftercare and overall business climate.

Through the work of six of its advocacy committees, AmCham has been active in the area of property rights, taxes and financial sector, environment, security, and real estate. The organization opened up a dialogue with key stakeholder in the country including NBS Governor Radovan Jelašić, Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodić and Minister of Finance Mlađan Dinkić aimed at including investors' early in the regulatory processes that affect business community.

Consistent with the political outcome of Montenegro referendum and the separation of the two Republics, AmCham members decided to establish AmCham Serbia and AmCham Montenegro as two sovereign units. On the occasion of officially establishing new legal entity - AmCham Serbia, the Chamber launches new corporate identity and the image of the organization.

Today, AmCham Serbia represents over 160 foreign and domestic companies, which have cumulatively invested over $5 billion, and employ over 55,000 people. The organization has a clear mission is to promote American best business practices, values and responsible partnerships between the U.S. and Serbia and Montenegro, leading to economic development through trade and investment.
