The pharmaceuticals company Merck Sharp & Dohme has made a donation of more than 85,000 euros to healthcare institutions and patients undergoing long-term treatment
Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) has joined the initiative of the pharma sector by donating to the Covid-19 relief effort.
The firm has donated 25,000 euros to provide transportation for patients with cancer and rheumatoid arthritis to treatment facilities, as well as to ensure health workers can reach those patients unable to leave their homes. Merck Sharp & Dohme has also made a donation of 60,000 euros to the country’s national health service following an appeal by the Serbian Government.
Ten MSD staff have also volunteered their time as part of an AmCham project in which they populated a database with global medical developments. The data bank is exceptionally important as it allows doctors on the Crisis Response Committee to easily access information relevant for fighting the Covid-19 outbreak in Serbia.
‘Our role is to safeguard and improve human health, and success in that effort is the ultimate measure of all our activities. We feel it is especially important for all of us to show solidarity in these difficult times and support both the health service and patients, which was the goal of this donation. Precautionary measures should remain the primary responsibility for all of us. That is how we will best help society combat this pandemic’, said Nebojša Škuljec, MSD Country Lead for Serbia.
