Following the AmCham General Assembly meeting, the AmCham Board of Governors, at its annual strategy meeting on March 4, 2011, established goals for the association in 2011
Belgrade, March 4, 2011– The Board decided to continue with a strong focus on business advocacy, thereby addressing major regulatory problems faced by investors. In line with that decision, AmCham key advocacy topics for 2011 will reflect issues pertaining to labor regulations, real estate, tax policy and earmarked revenues, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), healthcare policy and finance (capital markets and FOREX).
In addition, the Board agreed that affirmation of various aspects of EU integration should be highlighted in activities of AmCham working groups aiming to provide more information on this process. Finally, the Board adopted Amendments to the Advocacy Guidelines, including provisions on Steering Committee elections, vacancies on Steering Committee level and formation of ad-hoc working groups.
Furthermore, the Board overviewed important issues related to the AmCham network and agreed that AmCham Communications Strategy should support the group’s advocacy activities, foster partnership with selected media and increase our e-PR presence whenever possible.
In the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Board adopted AmCham’s on-going CSR programs, initiatives and plans including cooperation with the Career Development Center of the Belgrade University on Meet the Business First Hand and Kadar da budem kadar programs for students, promotion of member companies’ best practices through the AmCham web site, active participation within the UN Global Compact and organizing roundtables and seminars related to the business ethics and volunteering.
