Addressing guests, Mr Vladan Živanović, former AmCham President, underlined that the Chamber’s major accomplishment is the establishment of a constructive and constant dialogue between the private and public sector, which has contributed to AmCham becoming a constructive partner of the Government and an unbiased evaluator of economic reforms in Serbia.
- In its first decade, AmCham has provided constructive suggestions and comments for improving around 80 laws and bylaws in the area of corporate legislation. During the present government’s term of office alone, AmCham has institutionalised a dialogue with the Prime Minister and organised more than 60 meetings at various levels with all parts of the state administration, resulting in changes to more than 30 regulations, while the formal adoption of others is expected, said Mr Živanović.
- AmCham’s efforts at improving the regulatory framework for the business sector have been ongoing for a decade, and improvements have been made in many areas, although the speed of implementation of reforms is slower than expected by the business sector, said Mr Đurković, adding the following – We have a lot of work to do in the coming period and I think that European integration will remain of primary importance for Serbia. In that regard, the American Chamber of Commerce plans to provide its full contribution to the acceleration of this process. In addition, we will continue to provide suggestions which can make operations easier in the business sector and improve the business climate, an effort ultimately resulting in attracting additional foreign investment.
