The American Chamber of Commerce has celebrated its 10th anniversary in Serbia. The reception was attended by Boris Tadić, President of the Republic of Serbia, HE Mary Warlick, US Ambassador to Serbia, Slavica Đukić - Dejanović, President of the Serbian Parliament, Serbian Government ministers and top officials, and more than 300 representatives of the business sector and AmCham member companies.
In his opening speech, Miloš Đurković, President of AmCham Serbia, said that the American Chamber of Commerce has been successful over the last ten years in promoting economic partnership between the United States of America and the Republic of Serbia, as well as helping to attract foreign investment and supporting the exchange of best business practices.
- After ten years, we can be proud of the road we have traveled together in these economically and politically turbulent times for Serbia. A good business environment is possible only if there is a clear political will to identify the need for economic reforms, as well as willingness and persistence to continue down that road, said Đurković.
In the last decade, one of the Chamber’s key focuses has been on improving the regulatory framework for better business operations. Since its establishment, AmCham’s main objective has been the institutionalisation of a constructive and constant dialogue between the private and public sectors in order to improve Serbia’s business climate, with the ultimate objective of accelerating economic reforms and supporting Serbia’s economic growth and its position as an attractive investment destination. In its work, AmCham strives to be a constructive partner for the authorities with the aim of establishing conditions which make the business operations of existing investors easier and create a more favourable climate for future investments. In addition, AmCham is positioned as a hub of business expertise for its member companies, the international community and the business community as a whole.
