NOMINEE FOR LABOR REGULATIONS COMMITTEE VICE-CHAIR POSITION
STATEMENT OF INTENT
As a lawyer who represents clients in labor disputes, I’ve come to understand that a huge number of provisions in the Labor Law are applied incorrectly by judges, or are interpreted contrary to the intentions of the legislators. With upcoming amendments of the Labor Law, my activity as a potential vice chairman of the Labor Committee will be to point this out to legislators. This can only be done by the joint efforts of the AmCham’s members in interaction with the judges.
One of the biggest problems related to the Covid-19 pandemic is the problem of preventing abuses of employee rights, primarily the right to sick leave, because this produces significant material damage to employers. The Committee would be well placed to take an active role in solving this and to participate in the process to speed-up trials in labor disputes (the average length of the proceedings is approx. 6-7 years).
