Over 140 representatives of AmCham member companies, the diplomatic corps and media joined a Business Breakfast and Panel Discussion with H.E. Kyle R. Scott, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia. On this occasion Ambassador Scott emphasized that the U. S. supports Serbia on its path to integration into the European Union and that in this process the role of AmCham would be of utmost importance, primarily in the further improvement of the business environment in Serbia.
Also, the ambassador spoke about the functioning of the US electoral system, recent U. S. election results and their impact on further Washington policy towards Serbia and the region.
A panel discussion with the Ambassador was moderated by Zoran Petrović, AmCham President and CEO of Raiffeisen Bank and included Jelena Pavlović, AmCham First Vice President, and General Manager of Philip Morris International and Vladan Živanović, AmCham Second Vice President and General Manager of NCR Serbia.
Discussing the necessity of further engagement AmCham to improve the business environment, Petrović reminded the audience of the results of the AmCham survey conducted during last summer where key themes and objectives for the local economy were identified, placing the expectations of the business community in front of the Government: "Reducing the informal economy, improving the efficiency of state administration, the predictability of changes in tax laws, reduction of para-fiscal levies, and increasing the focus on e-governance are essential items that the Serbian Government should include in its agenda," said Petrović. "AmCham remains a constructive partner of the Government of Serbia to further improve the business environment. The continued support of the U.S. Embassy is important to us on this path."
